On this day 5 years ago I watched you take your last breath. I watched as the clock stopped, but not the world around me. One thing I learned dealing with grief that the world will keep on moving regardless of your current circumstances and it’s up to you to pray, give it to God and walk with him as you grieve. My whole life shifted in that year and honestly leading up to that day I avoided and suppressed it with so many unhealthy things. Looking back on the woman I am today I thank you for always pouring into me and reminding me that the world is a cruel and to not let that make me scared to see it. I’ll never forget the night I rode in a taxi because mom got sick and someone had to watch you since you had then reverted to having to be on oxygen. Even with the bad I still remember the day when spring started to break and I made sure that we got you outside so you could feel the light touch your face. That day you smiled so much and I could even see the light get brighter around you. I am so happy to have gotten a brother like you here on earth. Sometimes I forget the days and years but never the memories and words that are in my heart. Stephen you are missed so much, but never forgotten. I know you are looking down so proud of your baby sister who has grown into her own as a woman. I thank God I survived my darkest days of grief because I choose to surrender and walk with him.
